Is Melting Lead (Lead Pouring) a Sin in Islam?

Today, some people turn to traditional practices such as melting lead (lead pouring) to remove the evil eye, fear, or spiritual discomfort. However, according to Islam, this practice is not permissible and is considered haram and spiritually harmful.

Lead pouring involves:
  • seeking knowledge of the unseen,
  • attempting to influence spiritual realms,
  • relying on superstition,
  • searching for healing through non-Islamic methods.

Because of this, it falls under the category of superstitious and forbidden practices in Islam.

The Qur’an: Only Allah Knows the Unseen
The Qur’an clearly states that only Allah has knowledge of the unseen (al-ghayb):
“Say: None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah.”
(Surah An-Naml 27:65)
Practices such as lead pouring — which often claim to reveal unseen information — contradict this principle and are therefore not acceptable in Islam.

Hadith: Why Is Lead Pouring Spiritually Dangerous?

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) strongly condemned all forms of superstition, sorcery, and false spiritual practices, except for ruqyah (Qur’anic healing).

One authentic hadith states:
“Whoever goes to a fortune-teller and believes what they say, their prayers will not be accepted for forty days.”
(Muslim)

The people who perform lead pouring often:
  • make predictions,
  • interpret shapes,
  • claim knowledge of hidden matters,
which aligns with the behavior of fortune-tellers mentioned in the hadith.

Why Is Lead Pouring Considered Haram?

Lead pouring is forbidden in Islam because it:
  • involves claims about the unseen,
  • relies on superstition and false interpretations,
  • attributes healing to objects or rituals instead of Allah,
  • resembles practices of sorcery and divination,
  • opens the door to shirk (associating partners with Allah),
  • misguides people spiritually.
For these reasons, Muslims should avoid it completely.

What Should a Muslim Do for Evil Eye or Spiritual Discomfort?

Islam provides clear and pure solutions for protection and healing:
✔ Recite Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas
✔ Recite Ayat al-Kursi
✔ Recite Surah Al-Inshirah
✔ Use authentic Prophetic ruqyah (Qur’anic healing)
✔ Give charity (sadaqah)
✔ Increase dua and dhikr

In Islam, healing must be sought only through halal and Qur’an-based methods — not through superstitious rituals.

Vedat Gülmez Hoca’s Perspective

Vedat Gülmez Hoca does not practice:
  • lead pouring,
  • fortune-telling,
  • talismans,
  • charms,
  • sorcery,
  • mediumship,
  • or any forbidden spiritual technique.
His entire method is based on:
✔ the Qur’an
✔ the Sunnah
✔ dua
✔ dhikr
✔ spiritual cleansing
True healing comes only by Allah’s permission and through His words.

Conclusion: Lead Pouring Is Sinful and Spiritually Harmful in Islam

For a Muslim, seeking healing through lead pouring is:
  • haram,
  • spiritually dangerous,
  • not supported by Islamic teachings.

Real protection and healing come only from Allah, through the Qur’an and the Sunnah.
